Poppy and Caillin joined marine scientist Ailsa Maclellan to conduct a seashore survey at Ardmair at today's low tide, once again using the NatureScot Community-led Marine Biodiversity Monitoring Handbook as our guide and template. We also used Hatcher and Trewhella's Rockpooling book, which we're finding really useful - it's super user friendly and has excellent pictures. We're always astonished by the amount there is to learn and discover with every single visit to the intertidal zone...iridescent seaweeds, baby starfish, massive winkles, strange wriggly worms....there's always so much life and always something new! Massive thanks, as ever, to Coigach & Assynt Living Landscape for the support and funding that makes it possible for USS to conduct these surveys.
