Remote Beach
Cleans
We have some very beautiful, but extremely remote and inaccessible stretches of coastline around the Wester Ross MPA. Many of them are severely impacted by marine litter but are so difficult to get to by land that they seldom get cleaned. And even if they do, uplifting the bagged rubbish is also a huge challenge.
We ask people to crack on and get the beaches cleaned as much as they can, then secure the waste above the tideline, making sure it won't blow away, then send us a picture and a location (What3Words is good!) so we can come an uplift by boat. It's a great system!
Being able to get to some of those beaches and clear some of the plastic has been really rewarding. We are also delighted to be able to put word out to other beach cleaners that we can uplift what they have gathered....
